The Book of JOB is the first of the Wisdom Books of the Old Testament. These books draw together the lessons learnt and passed on by those who live by God's Law and gained insights into life by so doing. The special focus of this book is in addressing the issue of why do the righteous suffer? Not why people suffer, but why the righteous suffer? This is a big question that many ask, even today. Why does God allow such a thing? We are not taught by philosophical or theological discourse but from the very personal struggle of a righteous man who faced dire afflictions from the devil. We observe his life experience as he sought the answer, while debating against many false accusations made by those who came to counsel him; until God spoke.
