The Book of JEREMIAH a major prophetic book that records the life and ministry of the prophet Jeremiah who ministered in the period of the fall of the Southern Kingdom of Judah. He had the unenviable task of prophesying God’s judgement against the nation for its sins in the face of their unbelief. He lived through the period of it’s actual downfall, declaring that they will be exiled for 70 years before the LORD allow them to return to the land. He prophesied of a New Covenant that God will make with His people, which was fulfilled in Christ.
LAMENTATION is a poem by Jeremiah that recorded and deeply lamented the fall of Jerusalem and Judah. It reflects the wickedness that was punished and the hope that salvation will still come by the LORD’s mercy.
