The Book of Daniel is a major prophetic book of the OT that foresaw the rise and fall of world empires. It follows events in the Babylonian, and the subsequent Persian, Empires within the lifetime of Daniel. Daniel was exiled to Babylon to serve King Nebuchadnezzer when the southern kingdom of Judah fell. He remained in service as a high level civil servant after its fall and served in the Persian Empire that followed until Darius. This book tracks major events in his life of service and that of his fellow Jewish exiles in their walk of faith in the face of many life-threatening trials. As a prophet of the LORD, he was given to interpret some very significant dreams & visions that Nebuchadnezzer and subsequent kings had from God.
