Colossians is written by Paul with Timothy. It is similar to the Epistle to the Ephesians. It is shorter but has its own emphasis. The most significant teaching is its highlight of the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ over all forces of nature, all powers and authority, human, angelic or demonic. The truth of Christ is superior to all human philosophies and worldly wisdom. With this as the principal truth, it extends to teaching us the difference between true worship and ritualism, asceticism and human traditionalism. It continues into guiding us to holy living as God’s people in family life, work life, and being witnesses to the world.
