What is Christian EQ?

EQ as known in society

Emotional Quotient: someone’s ability to understand their emotions, deal with emotional problems, and get on well with other people

EQ vis a vis IQ

Intelligence Quotient: a number that represents a person’s intelligence, based on the results of a particular type of test

Christian EQ is based on 2 Biblical Truths -

• Godly Wisdom
• 2^nd Part of the Greatest Commandment – Love your neighbour as yourself;
  Rooted in being true to the 1^st Part – Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and spirit

But these 2 Truths are Rooted in our Communion with GOD – the Vertical Dimension

It is our GOD who so transforms us so that we are able to Relate Rightly with our Fellows

• otherwise, this area is Distorted and Corrupted by our Sinfulness
• when He sort us from Inside Out, these aberrations are Corrected

Fundamental Difference

The Fundamental Difference between EQ and Christian EQ is that Christian EQ is EQ that is rooted in living and relating by the biblical truths and values of Scripture and enabled by the Spirit in the life of a Christian.

EQ as a psycho-social aptitude and skill is not based on any given set of beliefs or values. It is about the capacity of a person to be emotionally sensitive and responsive to people to be able to relate well with them.

It is therefore possible for an evil person to be very high in EQ. But this is an option that is Mutually Exclusive to the practice of Christian EQ. The spiritual biblical beliefs and values of a Christian who practises Christian EQ would directly contradict any such form or way of EQ.
