The Epistle of 1 Peter is written by the leading apostle of the Twelve, Simon Peter. It enriches us with his insights into Christian life. It speaks to us of our salvation in Christ. It tells us of the need for new believers to feed on God’s Word. It calls us to be holy because our God is holy. It teaches that the Church is the New Israel of God and that we are living stones built into a spiritual house. It counsels us on how we are to relate at home and with governing authorities. It calls us to suffer for righteousness sake. Above all, it encourages the Church to stand firm in the face of persecution and suffering by following the example of our Christ.
