1 & 2 TIMOTHY are two epistles written by Paul to Timothy to encourage and guide him as an overseer of churches in Ephesus. Paul had assigned him to appoint elders and to sort out pastoral and doctrinal issues. He instructs on what is the Gospel, the importance of persistent sound teaching, the need to correct errors and false teachers, the care of widows, the treatment of young and old, men and women, and similar pastoral matters. Included in Paul's counsel are many personal principles for how to walk soundly with Christ for every leader and disciple. Paul wrote these towards the end of his life and so we find him sharing his personal perspective on how he would face death in Christ.
